Yup! The LS 650 sure would allow you to cruise into that much wind at highway speeds.

The low horsepower issue ( only 31 ponies) that folks worry about - and that is a recurrent theme here - really only tells a portion of the story - torque is the true comment on what a machine is going to be able to handle when beating into a head wind - and torque is what that big ole piston punching up and down really does for the LS650.

I love small engined motorcycles. But I too have struggled with older 250 two strokes - I took an X-6 ( Hustler) to Sturgis in 1997. Crawled up the mountains in second gear at 25 mph - because I knew there was another side and story coming down. But in 1999 with my Savage at Sturgis - hills melted away - dial in more throttle and what hill was that you were talking about?

I am always amazed at the joy of riding a Savage - and I always tell folks what a joy they are. In your case - find someone who rides one and talk them into letting you test ride it - if you like it -great - if not - that mini torquer of a 250 will continue to serve you just fine!

Sure would like you to add a few more comments about the GZ 250 - seriously consdered one of those for my daughter last year.

Keep the rubber side down
